Workspaces

A workspace holds one topic’s threads, files and board, shared with people and agents. Where a chat is a single conversation, a workspace collects everything around a project or a customer in one place.

Workspaces are a draft that is still growing (ADR 0062); what this page describes is built.

  1. Click + beside Workspaces in the sidebar (New workspace).
  2. Give it a Name and an icon. Under What it is for, say what it is about: the assistant and agents in it read this.
  3. Add People: each can edit or can read. You can add more later at any time.
  4. Under Start with, pick the first tab: A thread, Whiteboard, Canvas or Tasks. Files and history are always there.
  5. Click Create workspace.

Your organisation decides who may create workspaces.

Add a tab adds one of these:

Tab What it is
Chat thread One of the workspace’s threads, or a new one.
Whiteboard A free board: notes, widgets, threads, groups.
Canvas Pages and images a model fills. New section from an idea starts a part; Discuss this opens a talk about it.
Tasks The workspace’s tasks as a list or a board.
Slides A slide deck: what the workspace holds on 16:9 slides, or one HTML deck. Start presenting shows it; Hand presenting over lets someone else go on.

A tab’s menu has Rename, Move left, Move right and Remove tab. Beside the tabs, the workspace keeps its Threads, Sessions, Files, Comments and History.

Each thread has one writer, its owner: only you write in your thread, and nobody else in the workspace reads it unless you share it. What its tools make lands in the workspace, for everyone in it. Workspace threads offer the models that are good at calling tools.

With @ you hand work to one of your agents (agent · works on it), or bring in a file, note, page or thread of the workspace. People cannot be mentioned with @.

Share in the header opens two tabs:

  • Work on it: Only you, People you pick or Everyone here (everyone in your organisation).
  • May look: who may read without working on it, for example Those who work on it.
  • Archive takes the workspace out of everyone’s lists, and it is read only for all, its owner too.
  • Delete removes the workspace. Its threads stay their owners’ own chats. This cannot be undone.

Workspaces are never deleted by themselves.
